Remo has knocked the skins off of the drum head market with it's Powerstroke 3 22" bass head. This head features a thin underlay at the outer edge of the head to subtly dampen unwanted overtones. And, it creates a near-perfect balance of response and tone control that has quickly made Powerstroke 3 one of Remo’s most preferred drum heads. Listen to what people have to say about it:

"When I purchased my kit I was displeased with its heads and then purchased the Remo Powerstroke 3 head. It was wonderful and I absolutely love it. This head provides me with the strength, attack, sound, and value I have always wanted. Remo is definitely my number one choice." LiL' Drummer Boi from Gastonia, NC.

"I just recently changed the head on my 22" kick, and I went from a REMO weatherking to the Powerstroke 3. I had to stuff the drum excessively with the weatherking, to keep the ring down, and the sound was flat, and had no "click" to it. With the Powerstroke, I was able to take out most of the stuffing and the sound is great. It has a deep, loud boom with a satisfying click and no ring. Beautiful..." ShadesOfBlack from Oakland, MD.

"Incredible sound, punch, response. An overall outstanding product. With over 10 years of experience of playing drums, with no doubt this is the best bass drum head I have ever owned." Anonymous Musician from Starkville, MS.

Its no wonder Remo is the Standard on 90% of Drum sets. This is a premier head for the money.
Well yeah I play the drums. I play more of Rock/Metal than anything else, such as Metallica. I am constantly trying to improve my playing abilities. Any questions about the drums you can ask me and I will tell you what I know and if I don't know then I will try my best to find out for you.

Thanks,
InYuco

1945 - The facts concerning Elvis's first guitar vary. One account claims Elvis bought a $7.75 guitar from the Tupelo Hardware Company because he wanted to accompany himself when he sang. Elvis paid for part of his 10th birthday present from money he had earned doing odd jobs around the neighborhood. The owner of the store claims that Elvis was more interested in buying a rifle, but that his mother Gladys feared he would shoot someone or himself. Another story tell of Elvis wish for a new bicycle but could not afford the $55.00 to price tag. And Gladys was concerned that her precious 10 year old could injury himself, even though Elvis could be seen driving his parent to church meetings in a rusted-out truck by the time he could reach the pedals. Together with a local teacher and his uncle Vester Presley Elvis learned to play the instrument.

1951 - Elvis' 16th Birthday. Girls were frightened of him because his appearance was so unconventional. Some felt he acted as if he had a nervous disorder while most agreed he had the manners of a hog on heat when Elvis was around the opposite sex.

Elvis Birthday - Happy Birthday Elvis
ELVIS PRESLEY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION 2008
Saturday, January 5 – Tuesday, January 8

1953 - Vernon and Gladys paid $50 for a 1952 Lincoln Zephyr coupe which they gave to Elvis on his 18th birthday. With wheels like any other teenager Elvis discovered freedom which scared his mother. Gladys did not know how to drive, so she used the excuse to get Elvis to drive her everywhere.

1954 - Elvis, his mother Gladys and his father Vernon celebrated is birthday singing inspirational songs at their home.

1955 - Elvis performed at the Louisiana Hayride concerts, watched by Hank Williams's son, Jimmy Rodgers Snow who reported back to Col Parker that Elvis was provocative, sexy and appealed to all women. (sssh, we already knew that)

1956 - Elvis's 21st birthday was spent on the road going to and from Louisiana Hayride appearances.

1957 - Elvis traveled by train to Hollywood on his 22nd birthday. Scotty Moore, Bill Black & DJ Fontana who co-starred in Loving You, shared a birthday cake that Gladys had baked.

1958 - Elvis was in California to record his Christmas album.

1959 - Dick Clark's American Bandstand dedicated its program to Elvis 24th birthday. It was the first birthday Elvis ever spent without his mother's well wishes.

1960 - Rumours had it that United Artists wanted Elvis to play the lead role in West Side Story. The Colonel turned it down because the character dies a brutal death.

1961 - Elvis celebrated his 26th birthday with Hope Lang on the set of Wild In The Country. He was in a foul mood because Col Parker insisted he record the title track from the movie which Elvis thought was a non-singing role.

Pictures of Elvis Presley

1962 - On his 27th birthday Dick Clark dedicated his broadcast of American Bandstand to Elvis.

1964 - Elvis did not want to celebrate his 29th birthday as he was upset about the way his flagging movie career and became violent at how the critics were panning his movies.
1965 - Elvis celebrated his 30th birthday quietly at home, thought some newspapers printed the news of his 30th birthday like it was the end of an era. However, two months later Elvis declared in an interview: "I can never forget the longing to be someone. I guess if you are poor you always think bigger and want more than those who have everything." On that day Elvis signed a 3-picture contract with MGM and there was talk of Elvis starring in BABY THE RAIN MUST FALL. However, Steve McQueen got the lead role of Henry Thomas an ex-con who had a band called the Rockabillies. In the film McQueen remarks, "Maybe I'll be a big movie star like Elvis Presley..."

1967 - Marty Lacker, Charlie Hodge and the other members of the Memphis Mafia got together and present Elvis with "tree-of-life" medallion for his 32nd birthday which Elvis often wore.

1968 - Just months into his marriage and the honeymoon was over. Elvis just wanted things to stay the same (horsing around with the guys) although his was wed and about to become a father.

1970 - Elvis prepared for his next concert tour throughout the States. Elvis was happy to perform before a live audience again. To-date his most successful concert was at New York, Madison Square Garden

1971 - The day after his 36th birthday Jaycees voted Elvis Ten Outstanding Young Men of America. The tribute brought tears of joy and was the only award Elvis accepted in person.

I love playing music for people to hear. Ever since I was little I had a knack for performance. My parents have endless hours of home videos of me and my sisters performing in all kinds of made-up bands. Rarely did a month go by when we were not practicing for some kind of performance and making posters so that are parents would know to come to the show.

My mom always popped popcorn and brought snacks and they enjoyed our live shows just as they would a movie at the local theatre. As a child, I had no idea how much the support of my parents was instilling in me such a deep belief in my own abilities. I loved playing my harmonica most of all.

Looking back, I'm quite sure that I never had a harmonica lesson in all of my years of music playing. My father bought me a harmonica for my seventh birthday after I had been begging for one for nearly a year. When I wasn't busy with my guitar or piano lessons, you could fin me on our front porch struggling to learn the harmonica on my own. It must have come somewhat naturally to me because I was playing it in a folk band by the time I entered high school.

My sisters and I became known in our town as budding musicians. This was a title we loved and desperately wanted to live up to. We would rush home from school each day and spend hours playing songs in our makeshift garage studio that my parents had so graciously turned over to us. I played my harmonica and sometimes played the guitar.

My older sister was the lead singer of our little band and she played the violin sometimes too. The two youngest sisters worked hard to become proficient at the piano and the guitar. We had quite the little set up going on. I loved nothing more than the songs that I didn't have to do anything other than stand and play my harmonica.

I have loved the harmonica I think because it is so simple and small. I've always been a simple person and I have strived to live simply in every way. So I guess my love for the tiny harmonica came to me honestly. I never owned more than one harmonica at once, though, because that would be excessive. So every year or so I'd sell my harmonica and buy an updated one that fit my mouth just right.

Playing the harmonica has been one of the smallest things yet one of the biggest blessings of my life.

Song Writing - 11 Ways to Improve Your Songwriting Abilities

1. Listen to a variety of music. When I make time to listen to others’ music, it gives my creativity a jump start. It’s kind of like eating – I try to digest a variety of music to give me a balanced diet of inspiration. When I listen, my subconscious picks up nuances and riffs and tone, and later when I am writing my own music, I find myself writing much more fluently.
2. Practice singing harmony. One of the best abilities that you can develop as a songwriter is to be able to sing harmony on the fly. As you drive in your car, practice singing harmony to the music you’re listening to. Singing harmony on the fly is really an act of composition, and as you become more fluent, it will help your composition ability.
3. Keep a digital recorder with you. I make a habit to keep a digital recorder with me at all times. You never know when a great new melody might come to you, and I even find that I am more likely to come up with a melody if I have a recorder with me. I especially recommend having one by your bed; I find that I will often wake up with a song running through my head, and having a recorder near enables me to get the melody down.
4. Practice your instrument while watching a movie. This is one of my favorite new tricks. I practice jazz chords and scales while watching DVD’s, and I find that multitasking in this way helps to make my playing more fluent.
5. Make time to jam with others. Even if you’re not in a group, make time to jam with musician friends. I find that looking forward to a jam session helps me to be a bit more creative – I want to have a song to share, and I tend to write more under a little pressure.
6. Find encourager's. It’s really important to find a few people who like your music and can encourage you. Writing music is a very personal act, and it’s hard to produce when you don’t get any positive feedback. Having friends who really enjoy my music and who can give me encouragement helps to keep me motivated.
7. Read poems and short stories. In the same what that I try to digest a variety of music, I also make an effort to read poetry and short stories. I find that tuning in to others’ imagination through reading helps me to be more imaginative, which helps my lyric writing ability
8. Challenge yourself to write one poem each day. I have disciplined myself to write one poem as I ride the bus to work each day, and I find that this helps me be able to produce lyrics for my songs when I need them.
9. Take existing poems or bible verses and write melodies for them. I keep my melody-writing ability fine tuned by taking existing poems and writing melodies for them. So far I have written melodies for the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, the book of James, and the book of Ephesians. Once again, the discipline of producing melodies helps me to be more creative.
10. Improvise Melodies while alternating between two chords of accompaniment. I have found this exercise to be an impetus to writing good melodies: with my left hand, I alternate between two chords, and with my right hand I improvise melodies. Again, practicing writing music on the fly helps to keep me creative.
11. Develop your ability to think in multiple lines of instrumentation. When music is going through your head, try to stretch your composition ability by thinking in multiple lines of music. It takes effort, but the more lines of instrumentation you are able to hold in your mind, the better you will be able to compose when it comes time to write.
