Online Singing Competition

1Click2Fame – Online Singing Competition

1Click2Fame is a new online talent competition that is starting to really pick up momentum in the UK. The competition works in a similar way to TV shows such as Pop Idol, or America’s Got Talent. However it’s votes from the general public that makes the difference between fame and shame within this new online talent platform, not Simon Cowell.

The site is a bit like Facebook in that competitors on the site have profiles through which they can connect with their friends and fans. In this sense it is very much like a community for musicians rather than just a singing competition. With prizes of up to £100,000 on offer it can get pretty heated in the run up to the last few weeks of voting, but overall it seems like a very friendly community of likeminded musicians.

Recently 1Click2Fame have taken on ‘Star Coaches’ whose role is to interact with competitors, giving advice that will help them improve their performances and chances of success. The top musicians also occasionally have one-to-one coaching sessions with the star coaches. One of the coaches, Stevie Lange, is also the vocal coach to Girls Aloud, Robbie Williams, The Sugababes and many more high profile celebs.

With singing competitions becoming increasingly more popular on TV, I wonder if this new type of online competition will become more common and really take off. At least you get to choose which videos you upload and are not caught dumb found in front of millions of viewers across the country. This has got to be one of the major advantages.

With the pursuit of fame becoming even more prominent within Western society it is sites like these that provide a platform through which young performers can take a shot at stardom.
